Breckenridge, Colorado-Tiger Run RV Resort (Part 2)

December 29, 2017 to January 26, 2018

Our time in Breckenridge is over but we loved it so much that we definitely plan to return!
(A little pond in our campground)

There were a few things we would change for next time regarding our RV set up but most things went pretty smoothly.

Everyone's snowboarding and skiing skills improved greatly but there is some news:  Jordan decided a few days into January that she wanted to switch to skiing.  And she did AMAZING!  We were planning on two more lessons for each of them and so she did hers on skis and Jacob continued on the snowboard.  I was worried that we would no longer all be ready to go down the same slopes but in only 2 lessons, Jordan had surpassed me and gone down more difficult slopes.  THEN, we bought one more lesson for her and she ended with going down black moguls!!  She thinks it is so much fun and enjoys it so much more than snowboarding, which makes us happy.
(First day on skis!)

Here are a couple of videos that show how they have progressed:

(Jacob is coming down the center (orange/red helmet and jacket).  Then Greg (green helmet) comes from behind for a few seconds.  This is about mid-season for us).

(This is Jacob a little later in the season, picking up speed and taking on the big slopes)

(Here's Jordan on skis.  This is like her second day.  Loves the bumps)

(Both kids will come down the center on this one, Jordan first.  This is her 4th or 5th day on skis.  Jacob has graduated from the heel-side heroes and is now able to board on his toe side.  It's really hard!)

A few of the other things we did while in the Breck area were:

Walked out on a frozen lake to watch the ice fishing:  (It was also really cool to watch this lake transform from a "lake" to nearly completely frozen)

Walked through and explored the Dillon Ice Castle.  They had several cool tunnels and slides.  Very pretty place!

(The tops reminded me of people and Mt. Rushmore)

(Behind an ice window)
(I just had to take a picture of this guy because he had a TAIL!  Haha.  His hair was so long (even braided) that it hung below his jacket and looked like a tail)

Watched the parade with friends during the Ullr festival.

Visited the Summit Ski Museum
(I can't believe they once skied on such long skis!  And these were not even the longest!)

(Jordan is telling her the kitten story so many of you have heard.  Haha!)

Checked out the awesome hand carved ice sculptures during the 2018 International Ice Sculpture Championships

Enjoyed free art classes with BreckCreate.

And met some other homeschoolers and friends at the Summit County Youth group.

Leaving was hard.  Jordan would be leaving behind her wonderful, new friend, Tess and her family.  She played with her so much and she is such a fun kid.

On the other hand, we were excited to come back home and feel the warm sun on our skin (Well, we have hardly felt the sun since we have been back and are wondering why we left Breckenridge for temps that feel colder and there is no skiing?!)  But here we are and we will be in Texas until late April enjoying friends and family before returning to the Northwest and visiting a few new places and our 48th STATE!
